If you have the American Express Platinum Card®, you will receive Uber Cash credits in increments of $ 15 each month (except in December, when you will receive $ 35). Simply add your card as a payment method in the Uber app and the credits will be deposited automatically.

These credits are a snap to redeem. Even if you don’t drive Uber, you can use the credits for free food through Uber Eats.

There is only one problem.

Uber eats

can be miserable, at least in my experience.

Delivery is almost always criminally late, the meal is often cold, and the presentation of the food indicates that the driver has recently completed an off-road safari. Oh, and 50% of the time my order is missing at least one item, or I get a completely different order.

There are two remedies for these problems:

  • Order for pickup where possible
  • Use your Uber credits for things other than food

I’ve been implementing this second chip for months now, and it has revolutionized Amex Platinum Uber credits for me. My wife and I are expecting a baby and we will receive over $ 1,500 in free Pampers if we pursue the same strategy for our Platinum Card Uber credits over the next two years. Here’s why.

If you have any of the following American Express cards, you will receive monthly Uber Cash credit:

    • Amex Platinum – Up to $ 15 Uber Cash per month (and up to $ 35 in December)
    • American Express® Gold Card

      – Up to $ 10 Uber Cash per month (this only applies to US Eats orders and races, and the Gold Card must be added to the Uber app to receive the Uber Cash benefit)

If you have more than one of the above cards, it’s a good idea to add them all as a payment method to the same Uber account. Even if it’s not your card, the Uber credits will all be loaded to your account, and you’ll have more and more money to work with.

My family has Three Amex Platinum Cards, so we get up to $ 45 in Uber Cash per month (and up to $ 105 in December).

All Uber Cash credits awarded by Amex expire at the end of each month – they can be used or lost. So I ordered food just to keep my credits from stagnating and hated every meal.

But after a bit of reading, it’s not hard to find some very non-food merchants on Uber Eats. You can place orders that won’t result in cold, messy food no matter what misfortunes befall your well-meaning driver.

Uber Eats search results - many non-food articles.

Uber Eats is more than just food.

You can buy alcohol, specialty items, and even run some errands with your Uber credits.

My current goal for my credits is buybuy BABY. I am expecting a baby girl in May. Every month I buy three packs of Pampers. Before even arriving, she will have two months of childbirth waiting for her (around 609). By the time she burns them, we should have gotten another month of them through Uber Eats.

I expect not to open my wallet for a single diaper until the fifth month. And even then, I’ll still get 33% of her diapers for free.

Here’s what it looks like when I check out Uber Eats. For three packs of 29, it costs a total of $ 38.93. This leaves me with 15% of my Uber credits to tip the delivery driver (unfortunately pickup is not an option).

I get over a week of diapers every month with Uber Eats.

I will eventually ask for utensils and straws just to imagine the store workers scrambling.

At the end of the line

Who would have thought you could use Uber Eats for such an antithetical application: diapers.

The key to using your Amex Uber Credits is to find something that you would have really spent money on anyway, whether that is topping up on booze, offsetting your errands a bit, or spending money on shopping. buy baby supplies. If you can do that, you will effectively reduce the Amex Platinum annual fee of $ 695 (see rates) by $ 200 – or the $ 250 annual fee of the American Express® Gold card (see rates) by 100 $.
